Notes for Roderick Bentham:
Obituary from Flesherton, Ontario, Canada newspaper:An extremely sad and fatal accident occurred at Buffalo last week when Roddy Bentham, a Flesherton, Ontario, Canada boy, was killed on the railway. It seems that Mr. Bentham was on his engine fixing a headlight when passing an overhead bridge within the city limits. His head came in contact with the bridge, crushing it in and knocking him off the engine. He did neot regain consciousness and passed away shortly afterward.
Mr. Bentham was the second son of the late John Bentham of this township.he was married four years ago to an estimable young woman of New York state whom he leaves to mourn his untimely death and together with two little children, one three years old and the other only a month old.Mr. Bentham was 30 years of age.As a young man he was much esteemed here where many of his relatives reside. And the news of his untimely death came as a shock to all.Mrs. Willam Wilcox of Flesherton, Ontario, Canada, an aunt of the deceased attended the funeral which took place at Silver Creek, New York on Sunday, Spril 17, 1910.
Much sympathy is felt here for the mother of the deceased who resides at Battleford, Sask and who was unable to arrive at Silver Creek in time for the funeral.
This is the second Flesherton, Ontario, Canada boy to be sacrificed to the Mulock of American railway incompetance, the other case being that of Mr. geo. Mitchell who was killed by the explosion of a defective engine near Buffalo five or six years ago.
