In the name of God, Amen, I Richard Cheney, of Anne Arundel Co. and the Colony of Maryland, make this my last will and testament in manner and form following.
To my eldest son Richard, 250 acres called "Cheney's Rest" on South River.
To my son Charles and son Thomas, my plantation called "Resolution" at the age of 16 yrs, in the meantime to be in charge of my son Richard and my son-in-law John Jacobs and his wife.
To my 3 daughters, Mary, Eliza and Ann, personalty of sort.
To my wife (unnamed) her dower rights.
Dated March 6, 1686.
Inventory of his personal property was recorded August 16, 1688.3 cowes and calves, 5 young cattle, 2 cowes without calves, 2 horses and 1 mare, a parcell of hogs, 1 hand mill, 1 gunn and pair of pistolls and simiter, a woman servant, a parcell of bedding, 4 iron potts, 3 iron kittells, 1 spit, 1 brass skillet, 1 frying pan, a parcel of pewter, 1 mare lost in the woods, 1,600 pounds of tobacco owing estate from James Powell.
