Chamberlain-Weymouth, MA " Ensign John Whitman came as early as 1638 and was made a freeman of Massachusetts Bay Colony, 13 Mar, 1638-39.He was chosen one of three "to end small controversies in Waymoth" in 1645 and on the same day the General Court confirmed him "Ensign of the company at Waymoth".He was deacon of the First Church and died at Weymouth 13 Nov. 1692.His wife, Ruth ?, died at Weymouth, 17 Octo 1662.
