Young-History of Wayne Co. IN, p. 290-Isaac Jessup was b. in VA, m. in NC, and moved to OH in 1808.He moved to Wayne Co. in 1812 and to New Garden in 1816.He entered land in Wayne Co. in 1814.
Another source says he may have moved from NC to Grayson Co. VA to Highland Co. OH to Wayne Co. IN.
Randolph Co. biographical dictionary says Isaac grewup in Grayson Co. VA.In 1810
they moved to Highland Co. OH; then in 1814 they moved to Wayne Co. IN.
Randolph Co. history-sketch of Levi Jessup-Isaac was born in NC June 3, 1783, the son of Thomas and Mary (Bales) Jessup.He was brought up to agriculture in Grayson Co. VA where he father removed when he was 8 years old.; he also learned the blacksmith trade, which he followed for several years.In 1810 the family left Grayson Co. VA and moved to Highland Co. OH.In 1814 Isaac and one brother came to Wayne Co. IN.He settled 4 miles northeast of where Richmond now is, and in 1816 bought 160 acres of land 6 miles northwest of Richmond, in the neighborhood of Dover (Webster), where he spent the balance of his useful life, respected by his neighbors.He died Jan. 23, 1842 and was interred at Dover Cemetery, where his wife, whose death occurred Dec. 20, 1862 was also buried.
