He married 2nd Abigail Crain.She was disowned 1805 for marriage contrary to discipline, New Garden MM, NC but she may have been marrying someone else.
James and Abigail supposedly had 5 children of their own--names unknown.
Randolph County 1884 biography says James Gray, at a very advanced age, moved to Wayne Co. IN and after very few years died and was buried at Dover Cemetery.A biography of his son, Absolom, says his father died in NC. (James Gray died in NC in his 96th year)It also said James was born in England and came to America with his father, William, before the American Revolution.
His daughter, Ann, wasn't a birthright Quaker.She became a Quaker after Levi was b.
Couldn't find in Hinshaw's NC vols.They weren't Quakers in NC.
1786, Guilford Co. NC -- William Raper acknowledged a deed to James Gray for 121 acres of land.
