According to his marriage license to Mattie he was married twice.His first wife (Alma) died and his second marriage ended in divorce.He must have been married and divorced between 1927 and 1935.This must have been the marriage to Betty Bailey.

Hope resident, 56, dies few days after suffering heart attack
Wallace E. Carman, 56, died at 11:00 Sunday morning at his home in Hope after suffering a heart attack a few days ago.
He was born in Shelby Co. on Feb. 25, 1890, amd moved to Hope several years ago.On Dec. 24, 1910 he married Alma Richardson and 6 children were born to them.Mrs. Carman preceded him in death a number of years ago and on July 25, 1936 he married Mrs. Mattie Walker who survives.
Funeral services will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
Surviving besides the wife are 3 sons, Joe, Edgar and Lawrence Carman all of Indianapolis; 3 daughters Mrs. Elsie Snepp of Hope, Mrs. Evelyn Carmichael and Miss Mary Carman of Indianapolis; a sister Mrs. Blanche Kessler of Shelbyville; 2 brothers Ira and William of Hope, 7 step chidlren.....
