Alexander Stuart (b. Abt. 1680, d. 1714)Alexander Stuart was born Abt. 1680 in Scotland, and died 1714 in Chester County, Pennsylvania.He married Mary Baily on 1708, daughter of Joel Baily and Ann Short.

Alexander Stuart was one of 46 servants indentured Sept. 14, 1697 in Chester Co. PA, probably the date of his arrival from Scotland.In 1713 he bought 300 acres of land from the daughter of William Penn.The land is just east of the present town of Kennett Square, Philadelphia.
Chester Co. PA-Alexander Stewart dated 30th day, 10 mo, 1714 and proved 20th day, 4 mo, 1715.Whereas Alexander Stewart of ye township of Kennett in ye county of Chester in ye province of Pensilvania being now in weakness of body but in perfect memory have thought good to order and appoint this my real and personall estated according as is hereafter mentioned imrpimes I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God and my body to be decently buried and my funeral charges to be fully paid.I likewise order and appoint my father-in-law Joel Bayley and Henry Nayle my executors to this will and I orde To well beloved wife 5 horses namely Smart, Buck, and Short and the other two:young ones and I likewise leave her 5 cowes and a calf with 9 sheep,with all my swine and all the corn that is come to perfection on this my plantation and all the rest that is belonging to the plantation.I leave to my daughter Jane a young mare namely Snip and a young heifer called Succe, and to my son, Robert, one young four year old mare, to my daughter Ann a young mare three years old and to my daughter Mary a gray mare two years old and to my father Joel a sorell pacing mare.I leave Henry Nayle a young horse three years old; to Nicho Jones a pair of lethering britches thread buttons.I leave my best suit of aparrel to John Stewart the buttons excepted I leave Sam Hall my new vest which I wear everyday.to my son Robert, this my plantation when arrived to the yeares of one and twenty and ye said plantation to continue in my wife's hand untill his arivall at the age abovesaid and he the said Robert to pay to the rest of my children above named ten pounds apice after he is arived at the age of 22 according as they shall arive at age and if him or either of them die before arived at age the rest of the survivors to enjoy it equally among them and my wife to pay to my three daughters 5 pounds apeice wch I roder my wife to pay as they shall arive at age and this my wife to bring up my children at her own expenses and charges.
