Note:
Robert was the Lord of Raby and Brancepeth, in Durham. On March 17, 1227, he gave 200 marks for his relief on succession to his wife's inheritance in Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, and Durham. In 1230, he went overseas in the King's service. He was summoned for the Welsh expedition in August, 1241. The date of his death is uncertain, but must have occurred between June 25, 1242, when a fine was levied before him as a justice; and May 26, 1248, when his widow remarried.
Robert, a Saxon, held several civil offices and had military service. His death date is unknown but he must of been a very old man dying between June 24, 1242 and May 25, 1248 when his widow married Gilbert de Brakenberg. Robert descended from Uchtred, son-in-law of Ethelred II and fourth son of Gospatrick, earl of Northumberland.
Robert Fitz Maldred; came of age 1195; feudal Lord Raby, Commissioner to collect an aid (irregular tax) in Northumberland 1230, served in Henry III's campaign against Welsh Aug 1241. [Burke's Peerage]
