|Welcome to the Katernick Home Page. This page includes the family|
history of my family as well as that of my husband's. Since a genealogists work is never done be sure to check back often as this page is updated on a regular basis. The information has been verified through documentation & to the best of my
knowledge is accurate. Should you find any discrepencies in the
data posted please contact me so I can correct it. Enjoy your visit!
The research for my side of the family has focused mainly on the
maternal side. This is due to the fact that it is centrally located for me on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
Some of the families were the early pioneer settlers on Vancouver Island. Surnames connected to this line of research are
BRULE, DIGNAN, GRAVELLE, GREIG, GOUDIE, HANDY, LAFORTUNE, LEGACE, LIDGATE, MANN, MCFARLANE, MCPHAIL, PANNELL, RIVERS, VAUTRIN, VERDIER & WHITWELL. British Columbia has excellent
resources for researching. Be sure to visit the BC GenWeb site as
well as The Children of Fort Langley site. A lot of the men on this side of the family worked for the Husdon's Bay Company & many of them settled on Vancouver Island.
The paternal side of the my family I have only recently started researching so the information is not as extensive as the maternal line. Surnames connected to this line of research are
AGAR, BARTLETT, HATTON, MARTIN & MOORE.
The research for my husbands side of the family is a little more
time consuming as I'm researching in the Ukraine for the paternal & Norway for the maternal. Initially I'm in Saskatchewan, Canada for both lines & working my way back. With the generous help from family I have been able to compile quite a bit of info on the maternal line going back to 1844 in Norway. Surnames connected to this line of research are BALESTRAD, DALE, EKKEREN, FONSTAD, GRONSBERG, LIGTVOR, MIDLANG, MYRKASKOG, STADHEIM, TANNAS, TENOLD, TRONES & VALSVIK. Please forgive if
I've misspelled any of the above names as I'm only vaguely familiar with the language.
The paternal side of my husband's family has been the most chal-
lenging for me. This is due to the fact that I have very limited
info to work with. Researching in the Ukraine is unfamiliar to me so it is a process in works. Surnames connected to this line of research are DESJARLIAS & KATERNICK/KATARENCHUK.
Any information on the above families would be greatly appreciated & I'm willing to share any info I have. As well,I
have extensive familytrees on the descendents of some of the
above families. They are not uploaded to this page not so much
due to the space limitations as to protect the privacy of the living. Please be sure so check out the links at the bottom of the page.
