Notes for Nancy Birdwell:
TRIBUTE OF RESPECT
Mrs Nancy Romine "nee" Birdwell was born in Sullivan County TN on Nov 3rd 1795 and died June 20th 1885 age 89 years 7 months and 17 days. She was married to James Romine in the year 1812. She was the mother of eleven children and 101 grand children. She joined the Primitive Baptist Church about 60 years ago but He who doeth all things well has removed her from our midst and transported her in the sweet bye and bye. In as much as she was efficient member of Bethel Church, a faithful mother and Christian, never changing her views as a Primitive Baptist in none of the disolutions, but remaining firm and steadfast until her death to her first love, we deem it our duty to express our high appreciation of her noble Character and faithful efforts to advance the cause of Christianity. Therefore, be it resolved that the brothers and sisters of the Lost Creek Association deeply deplore the loss of our sister, and tender our heartfelt sympathies to her children and relatives, and may we emulate her Christian virtues that we obtain the reward of the righteous and a rich inheritance with her where all is joy and peace forever.
Dear Sister we hope to meet you over the river
Where all is love, joy, peace & pleasure
And there remain with loved ones forever
Where we can partake of the heavenly treasure.
Oh beautiful visions of love & glory
Beyond Jorden's cold and swelling flood
There I hope we'll all sing the lovely story
Of our blest redeemer God.
Respectively submitted, Joseph W. Ferguson
