I am researching the family history of the KENAVAN family of Brooklyn, New York, in an effort to finish a family project started some years ago. There are a number other spellingversions of Kenavan, e.g. Canavan, Kenevan, Kenivan, Kennevan, etc.I am specially interested in determining the why, how, and when the mis-spelling occured in addition to obtaining any information on the family tree and history. As for myself, I am
Thomas J. Kenavan, first of three children born to Thomas A. Kenavan and Margaret E. Slattery. My Grandparents on my Father's side were Joseph Kenavan and Agnes Daly (one or both may have been born in Ireland or Brooklyn NY)they had ten children, my Father being the youngest; while on my Mother's side were Thomas Slattery and Marie (known as Mary throughout her lifetime) McLaughlin (both born in Brooklyn, NY), they had a number of children that died in during birth or soon after, however only two survived, my Mother being the oldest, and her brother Thomas.
My GreatGrand parents: on my Father's side nothing much is known; while on my Mother's side was Daniel Slattery of Limrick, Ireland and Ellen Burns of Cincinnati, Ohio they had six children; and John McLaughlin of NYC, NY, and Margaret Murray of Lancashire, England who had four children.
Related family names I have some information on and would appreciate any additional information on are Anwander, Burns, Boland, Bolin, Case, Cornand, Cox, Daly, Kenavan, Kenevan, McLaughlin,Murry, Newborne, Riet, Rush, Sieverson, Skaats, Slattery, Suszczewicz, Yoshida, and others as yet unknown.
Any information or input would be deeply appreciated. I'm also willing to share information that I may have and keep confidential or private what is desired to be so designated.
