3rd son of Henry. Pvt., enlisted May 5, 1862 at Vernon, Louisiana in Co. "F" 28 La. Inf. {Gray's). Roll for Jan. and Feb. 1863. Absent, left sick, Nov. 16, 1862, on march from Monroe to Bayou Teche, fit for duty. Roll for July and August 1863, Deserted. On Rolls of Prisoners of War, Captured Rodney, Miss., Oct. 18, 1863 or Nov. 23, 1863. Received at Camp Morton,near Indianapolis, Indiana where he requested to take the Oath of Allegiance.Enlisted Co. "G" 6th U.S. Vol. Inf. 24 March 1865. Said to have deserted at Fort Laramie, D.T. 15 April 1866.Remarks: Conscripted at Monroe, La., May 29, 1862.Desires to take the Oath of Allegiance, remain North, a loyal citizen. Respt. recommended.Enlisted in U.S. service, March 24, 1865.
