Welcome to our Home Page.We are the KNEBELs from SWEDEN.There aren't too many of us.Enjoy your visit.
THIS POST MAY BE A DUPLICATE FOR SOME OF YOU.IF SO, MY SINCERE APOLOGIES.I'M STILL LEARNING THINGS FROM DAY TO DAY.
Hello,My name is Dennis A KNEBEL.How 'ya doin'?I am a retired air traffic controller sitting here playing with my computer.About two years ago I got on this genealogy kick.I'm having a good time tracing down my ancestors. At this time I have my mother's side traced back to a great --------- grandmother born in 1762.My mother's side is all Swedish. Then on my father's side I wasn't able to go back quite so far.
I have some information on my paternal grandparents and have been able to track down all of my father's siblings except one.Hence, my reason for writing this to you.
BACKGROUND FOR YOUR INFORMATION:My paternal grandmother Johanna S. Petersson went from Sweden to Germany in the early 1870s.She worked as a governess, nanny, teacher or domestic, we don't really know for sure.In any case when her contract expired , she returned to Sweden. We estimate it was in the mid to late 1870s*.Young Herman (possible middle initial = C.) KNEBEL was smitten by this blond, Swedish, vixen, and followed her back to Sweden. That union produced seven offspring, 4 boys and three girls. My father Charles H. Knebel was the middle child and the third boy.
So then, this is what I know of those KNEBEL children. My three aunts stayed and married in Sweden.I correspond with one of my male cousins now living in Sweden.Stefan's GREAT - GREAT Paternal GRANDPARENTS are the same couple as my paternal GRANDPARENTS, Herman & Johanna mentioned above.Of the four boys, my uncles Oscar and Pelle and my father immigrated to the United States about 1912-1915.My father and Oscar settled in Bridgeport CT and Pelle settled in Stamford CT.It is some trace of my Uncle Herman that I am looking for.We don't know for sure if he stayed in Sweden or immigrated. However the WORLD BOOK OF KNEBELs tells us that at this time - there are no known Knebels in Sweden although they are elsewhere all over the world.
My father told me he only saw his eldest brother one time after immigrating to the US. From what I remember my father telling me is thatsometime in the early 1920s Herman cameto Bridgeport and spent the day with Papa and Oscar. Then he was going to spend some time in Stamford. They never saw Herman again. Herman married about the same time the other boys did; however, he lost his first wife two years after the marriage. He later married a lady named Agnes and had at least one child, Einar, born in the 19-teens (I have a picture of the three of them) So did Herman stay in the states and settle down someplace??So as you can readily see, I need to contact some descendants of my Uncle Herman. My second goalis to have some hope of learning what part of Germany my grandfather came from.
Well how about it - are there any Herman, Agnes or Einar Knebel in your ancestry.Or do any of the names below ring any bells for you
