|This branch of the Knott family is essentially a New York family, at least as of the 1910's. Father's side emigrated to U.S. from Poland-Russia near turn of the century. Am unable to ascertain origin of the surname "Knott". It doesn't fit the suspected origins of this eastern European family; of course, this means also that I'm unable to find a surname for this family that it used in the "old country".|
Mother's side emigrated to U.S. from Austria also around the turn of the century. The surname is "Rossheim". This family originally landed in Charleston, S.C., thence made its way to New York.
I've had little luck researching either side of the family back beyond their respective arrivals in the U.S.
