Growing up I didn't know much about the Bott family. Beyond the immediate family, ancestors were a mystery as my father had little information.
Many years ago my Dad gave me two letters written by my Great Grandfather, George Michael Bott, during the Civil War. I thought they were interesting and filed them away.
While cleaning out the filing cabinet in 2001 I came across the letters and decided to look George up on the Internet. Much to my surprise I found a treasure of information and spent days unraveling the Bott family ancestry and compiling the information.
I found that my family ancestry traced back to the Bott's of York County Pennsylvania and who founded Bottstown. These Bott's migrated from Germany aboard the Loyal Judith.I visited York and obtained a lot of information to support my information.I also visited the Bott Cemetery on Emigs Road.
I was also fortunate that a cousin also had some information and photographs about the Botts and the Pulvers. The Pulvers are my Great Grandmother's father's family.
There is still a lot of information yet to be found and this will continue to be updated as more pieces to the family puzzle are uncovered. All of this opened up a new hobby and one to which I am very passionate.
I hope that current family and future generations will find the information fascinating and intriguing as I found out about my family.
