Martha was bur in Foster's Meadow, NY between 1723&1725; had at least 7 children - James (see below), Benjamin, Abdon, John, Joseph, Elizabeth, another daughter& possibly two more sons, Isaac & Daniel. 6th G-GRANDFATHER, James ABBOTT, b ab 1693 in Newtown, LI, NY, m Catherine BROWN ab 1722, moved to Amwell Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ ab 1744-45 & died there 1765.His 1757 will names his wife & 7 children - James III, Ellen, Job, Benjamin, Joseph, Catherine & William (see below) 5th G-GRANDFATHER: Wm. Abbott, b 4 March 1735, Huntington, LI, NY, m Catherine(?Prall?)ab 1758, Hunterdon Co, NJ, d 13 January 1793,Amwell Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ.Wm. ABBOTT served in the Rev.War under Gen.Washington and had been tax collector & treasurer of Hunterdon County, NJ. John & Catherine had 11 children - John (See below), Sarah, Catherine, William, Isaac, Elizabeth, Joseph, Abraham, Mary, William & Rebecca. Wm. & Catherine are bur in the Second English Presbyterian Churchyard in Mt. Airy, Hunterdon Co, NJ 4th G-GRANDFATHER, John ABBOTT, b 1759 in Amwell Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ.Also served in the Rev. War.When he was only 16 years old, he led a small band of Washington's troops across the Delaware River into Lambertville, NJ, where three British officers had been seen lurking about, an area which John was familiar with as it was his home. There they captured the British officers who were found hiding under a bed in the hotel. For this act Washington made John an "honorary" captain & he received captain's pay during the War & a captain's pension in 1833.His wife received a captain's widow's pension following his death.John Abbott married Alice AKERS 12 Feb 1779, & d 26 July 1840 in Hunterdon Co, NJ. John Abbott & Alice Akers are bur in theSecond English Presbyterian Churchyard in Mt. John and Anna are bur in Pleasant Ridge Cem, Hunterdon Co, NJ 2nd GREAT GRANDFATHER: John Schenck ABBOTT, b 26 Feb 1814 in Hunterdon Co, NJ or PA, died 4 February 1892, married (l) Charity FISHER on 7 Jan 1836 and (2) Jane PERRINE on 6 March 1861, had four children by first wife, an unnamed infant b. in 1836, Theodore, Mary Anna and Jacob Schenck (see below). GREAT GRANDFATHER: Jacob Schenck ABBOTT, of the Lambertville and Trenton, NJ areas, was b 10 July 1848, d on 2 Jan 1918.He marrried Susan Pettit b Sept 1840, d 15 Nov 1910.She was the widow of Adam HYDE by whom she had one son, Adam, Jr. Susan and Jacob ABBOTT had three sons, Randolph, John Schenck (see below) and William.No daughters.The family had moved to Kansas and Illinois, but returned to the NJ/PA area where theyall lived in the Solesbury, PA & Trenton, NJ areas until their deaths. GRANDFATHER, John Schenck ABBOTT, b. 5 Jan 1873 in Kansas, died 31 August 1934 in Trenton, NJ.He married Louisa BESSONETT, (daughter of John Bessonett and Margaret Hutchinson)who was b 23 Dec 1867 in Bristol, PA, on 4 July 1896 in Trenton, NJ.They had 7 children, Theodore, who died as an infant; Edgar b. 30 June 1897; Mae b 24 Sept 1899; Orville (my father) b 3 Apr 1902; Alice b 10 Apr 1907; Harold Schenck b 8 May 1910 & Ralph Milton b 2 Jan 1913.
