Military: Jesse was a Captainin the Revolution and served under the immediate command of General Washington, who in general orders commended him for bravery (Virginia Gazette 23 Jan 1778)
Military: See Will, Nelson, Ky, page 77, prepared 5 Apr 1818 (or perhaps 1808), witnesses Josiah Marshall, Francis Tennell and John McCloskey, Cocicil 21 Oct 1818, witnesses Richard L. Murphy, Nimrod Shumate and Isaac Newman. It was probated 15 Febg 1819. Elijah Davis executor and entered into bond with Cornelius Bodine and William McMakin. The will mentions wife Nancy, and sons Presley, Elijah, Wilson L, William M., Jesse Jr., and daughters Elizabeth, Nancy, and Harriet. See copy in file.

Military: It was this Jessie Davis who, after the Revolution procured Elijah Milton, his wife's brother, to serve as wagon master to transport the French army to Boston.
