In 1993 I started researching my family. My older brother knew that my father was born in Lincoln Co., WVa. So we went to Hamlin the county seat to look for information about the family. Once there we discovered that the court house burnt down in 1909. This left us without any information on my father or grandfather. We were told that the Hamlin Libary had some information by one of the county clerks. At the library we found the 1870 census of Linclon CO. and my grandfather was in the census. So with that census we started my tree. I am researching Lacy's, Pauley's, Clark's, Holstein's,Griffith's,Midkiff's, Owen's,Shaffer's, Turley, Dunlap's, Bowman's, McCray's, Lovejo's, McClure's, Earl's, Dean's, Kidd's. My 2nd greatgrandfather John Lacy, was married in Pittsylvania on 25 Nov 1801. to Elizabeth Griffith. By 1820 he and his family were in Kanawha Co., Va/WVa. The area he lived in became Washington Districk, a part on Lincoln Co., WVa. Nothing has been traced on him or his family in Pittsylvania Co., Va. except his marriage bond. The internet just became available in my home town and I have been searching for the last four months with some information being recieved. Any help that I can get will be appreciated, I will have a URL home page in the near future. My son is developing it now, which will be visited thru the URL.. MY complete family tree will be available in the home page, when completed. Thanks to all that have helped and are going to help.
