The LA CHANCE family of Albany has, as of this date, been able to trace its roots as far back as 1730, thanks to a Canadian source. Our ancestry takes us from the United States>Canada>France>Spain on my father's side, and The United States>Italy on my mother's side. The original spelling of LACHANCE has undergone several derivations, ie., LASHANGE, LACHANSSE, LACHANGE, SANGE, LACHANCE[TODAYS SPELLING].
On my mother's side we have the name D'ALBA, from the town of Ficarrazi, in the Province of Palermo, Sicily [Italy]. Thus far I have only been able to get back to 1870 to my great-grandfather. My grandfather died soon after arriving in the United States. In fact he lived here only three years before developing a type of lung disease which caused his death.
