4 RICHARD, Hampton, was gr. 100 a. in
Dec. 1639 and in 1641 had a 30 a. gr. in
Exeter which he evid. sold to Nathl. and
Abraham Drake. Presum. the R., ag. 34,
who came in the -Truelove- from London in
Nov. 1635, tho the age seems understated.
Hampt. com.t.e.s.c. 1639; lot layer. Plf. or
deft. several times (see vol. i, Essex Q. Ct.
Rec.). Selectman 1650; j. 1650; gr.j. 1653.
Freed from training in June 1653. In July
1659 he was a purchaser of Nant. In Nov.
foll. fined and disenfranchised for entert.
Quakers. In Sept. 1660 he deeded prop. to
Nathl. Boulter, also giving him a p/a, and
in Oct. 1661, late of Hampt., sold a Hampt.
ho. and land to Benj. Swett and other prop.
to Nathl. Weare, tho he depos. bef. Thomas
Wiggin in Sept. 1662, approximately 67. Of Nant., by
deed to the Boulters in July 1663. Hampt.
Ch. excommun. him as a Quaker in May
1668. Lists 391ab, 392ab, 393ab(2), 376b
(1647). See also Cram(2). His 1st w. Basille
(List 393a) d. 15 July 1657; he m. 2d 15
Sept. 1658 Jane, wid. of George Bunker of
Topsfield, with whom he sold Tops. land in
1660. She d. at Nant. 31 Oct. 1662, he 14
Apr. 1682. Kn. ch: William, ag. 16, and
Francis, ag. 14, came in the -Rebecca- from
London, arriving at Boston 8 June 1635.
Nicholas, had Ex. grants with br. Francis in
1641, 1650, and in the latter yr. had a 2d gr.
of 5 a. at the end of his ho.-lot. Lists 391b,
374c, 375ab, 376ab(1647). He d. 18 Aug.
1650. Grace, oldest sis., m. Nathaniel Boulter(2).
John, b. approximately 1633. Elizabeth, bp. at
Newb. 9 Oct. 1638, m. Nathaniel Weare(6).
By 2d w: Richard, b. Hampt. 13 Jan. 1659-60,
admr. of fa.'s est. in Nant. 1 Aug. 1682.
He remov. to Cape May where adm. was gr.
to his oldest s. Jonathan 22 May 1707; other
sons were Ebenezer 19, and Lemuel 16, in
1708.
