Worked in China (Insurance), left during the Boxer rebellion. Shipwrecked on a Japanese island. Stranded in Italy, Landed in Hastings,
"...EH [Emily Hancock] and parents spent some time in China and Japan around the turn of the century. I believe her father [George William Hancock] was a minister and also had some connection with the insurance business. They were shipwrecked somewhere in the Far East on their way back to the UK. I think I remember correctly that the name of the ship was 'NIPPON KAISER MARU'. EH spoke of it often when we were children..."
Moved to Leicester in about 1914. Died 1929. Buried Belgrave cemetery, Leicester
