From John Lazell of Hingham, and now his father, to William Bradford, and everyhting in between... let me know if there are any errors, or anything else you would like to see posted. John was baptized in 1620 in St. Nicholas church, Castle Hedingham, Essex, England. The Parish records have been scanned, and they show John, his father William, and his brother Henry all in the baptism records. What we still don't know is how John got to Hingham. There was an unsupported rumor that John had first gone to Quebec, and come down in the 1630's with his brother(s). However, a historian pointed out that John was a fairly well respected church-goer and land owner in a protestant English settlement. Add to that that he was rumored to be a Huegenot, and was baptised in the Church of England, it seems unlikely that he would have immigrated to a predominantly Roman Catholic French settlement. (Note, there was a period from 1629 to 1632 where the English held the city, so it isn't impossible that John and his family were there) Please let me know if you have any other information on John Lazell/Lasell.
