| I have been currently been researching my mothers side of the family. Her maiden name was Falk. I have found information back to August Falk and his wife Elizabeth Karaus emigrating in 1885 from the Posen area of the German Empire, that is now in Poland. They and four of their children, took a train from Schneidemuhl (now Pila) to Bremen. They rode steerage aboard the ship Hermann, of the steamers of the North German Lloyd. They arrived at Baltimore April 1, 1885. They then went by train to Owatonna, MN. The ticket was bought by Michael Karaus, who I believe to be Elizabeth's brother. The Karaus family also emigrated from the Posen area. I have as yet been unable to find out what town or village they came from.|
I also have been researching my grandmother Grace Falk's family. She went by the maiden name of McNames, but was really the daughter of Peter O'Malley. I can find nothing so far about him. Grace's mother is Alice Compton (nee McKoon).I have traced theMckoons to Philip McKoon, born June 7,1799 in Warren, New York. His wife was Clarissa Murdock. The Murdock family is well documented, and anyone from that family who wants information about the decendants of Clarissa Murdock McKoon, may contact me.
