|I am researching the family tree of Henry Lazar, who migrated to the United States early in the 19th century. He disembarked from an unknown ship in Savannah, Georgia, prior to 1820, and as a brick mason, assisted in the construction of the lighthouse in Savannah. He later moved to South Carolina and settled in the Martin, SC area. This area was then in Barnwell County, but, due to re-districting, is now in Allendale County. His country of origin has not been established, but family oral history has it that he was from France.I have validated him, his wife, and their children through the U.S. Census records of 1830 and later. His two oldest sons, James H. and John Gee fought in the War Between the States.John Gee Lazar is my great grandfather.|
I am particularly interested in tracing the Lazar family back to its European home.
Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.
