Notes for William Thornton:
William Thornton made his will 18 Dec 1794, recorded 5 Jan 1795 Princess Anne Co., VA. He has been erroneously identified as the son of a Francis Thornton. More likely he was the son of Francis' brother
William Thornton or a grandchild of either man although this has not been proven to date.
In 1771, with wife "Precilla," William Thornton joined Lidia Fentress, and Angelleca Fentress in a deed conveying 100 acres in Blackwater, Princess Anne Co., VA to John Humphreys which descended to them by the death of his wife's father William Fentress. This was the only deed in which William Thornton was a party in Princess Anne Co. between 1755 and 1783.
