| THE MATTOX/LLOYD FAMILIES OF DEBORAH MATTOXAND CHARLES LLOYD Our family history has long been a fascination for my father, John Leroy Mattox. He began this journey back in the early 1980's concurrently with my uncle, Dr. James Price of Memphis, Tennessee. They searched and gleaned tons of information. Visits to cemeteries, and "old home places" were done over the years. Special thanks to my Uncle David Mattox who has also provided much information to this quest. As my father became weaker and more incapacitated due to diabetes and congestive heart failurehe had to retire from a career as a pharmacist. This gave him even more time to devote to our family’s history. He eventually lost both legs, grew weaker and died May 4, 2000. I took over the pictures, and the notes, and it became my life's work to finish what he had started. What a journey it has turned out to be! Many thanks to those of you out there in the world who are related to us and have freely shared your information. The pieces are coming together. It just proves what a small world it really is. On the Mattox side the primary families involved thus far are: Mattox, Presley, Williams, Lindsey, Meeker, Braden, Graven, Bishop, Beck, Halse, Fisher, and the neverending search for the elusive Mary Fleming, wife of David Lindsey, born in Derryloren or Moneymore (?)Ireland around 1723, and the parents of Elijah Mattox, Sr. along with the names of his brothers. Our Mattox family travels have taken us from the "Old Countries" of England, Scotland, and Ireland to New England, then Fort Pitt, PA, to Virginia, Kentucky, Clermont Co.,Ohio where most of us stayed, and then off to Illinois andthroughout the country from there. Please let me know of any inaccuracies found in my records. I would love it if I could share information and photographs with other family members out there. On the Lloyd side the primary families are:Lloyd, Heath, Findiesen, Lee, King, Woolard, Pinkham, Braddy, and Bennett. I have posted many family photos below. They are not exhaustive by any means. Please look at an individual's page you may be interested in as I have posted pictures there as well when available. When examining my records, please be aware that I save every scrap of information I find and save it in my notes on Family Tree Maker. This includes, emails, notes from message boards, and other people’s available GEDCOM’s.This is for my research so I have all I need at my fingertips when I follow a lead.I hope my work can help anyone else searching out there. As I find errors in my information I correct them ASAP.Reader, please do not accept all my information as gospel.I do have errors, of that I am sure, but it is as good as I can get it for now.Having said that, happy hunting and enjoy the journey. *Special Note added 11/10/06:I want to personally thank my new found Williams family. After years of searching the glass ceiling is finally breaking on the mystery surrounding my Mother's family. You cannot know what it means to us as a family to have some resolution. We have always felt that half of our family was missing. Now that gap has been filled. Each of you will be in our hearts from this day on.Thank you for giving us the opportunity to remember and honor our Williams family.
