However, going back further than 1850, they could be from anywhere in Sicily. I would really like to find the descendants of Antonino and Andrea Siragusa who traveled to the US in 1913-1918. I believe neither had a male son, and therefore it has been very hard to trace my relatives. Whereabouts of this family is either NY, WA, or PA.
New Information as of September 1999:
My grandmother was Angela Siragusa born of Paolo Siragusa, birthdate of May 05,1866 born in Partinico Sicily and Nunzia Tudisco.
Paolo Siragusa born ofAndrea Siragusa (birthdate August 27, 1843) married Giuseppa Cammarata(birthdate June 27,1837). They were all born in Partinico or Balestrate.
The two brothers of my grandmother,Angela Siragusa, were named Andrea and Antonino or Antonio. Antonino is the one I believe moved to California somewhere during his lifetime. He was born May 02, 1902. I dont think he married, but he did live with someone and I believe there are children.
Andrea Siragusa born May 14, 1891, died October 13 1958. He was shown at Errichetti Funeral Parlors. Lastknown address in 1940's is 5829-30-31 Magnolia Ave 475/477/479/481 Rettehnhouse Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The name on the Funeral Parlor Card was Andrea Siracusa. He was married to an Angelina in Sicily and traveled to the US sometime 1910's. Oral History states that Andrea lost a son in a war ( I believe it was the Korean, but I'm not sure) on the eve of going back to Sicily to see his family. He was so devestated by his son's death, that he never returned.
Other family names which have some roots in Partinico, Sicily and have found themselves to America from these descendants are:
Piero or Pietro LoBiondo
Scaglione husband of Marana Ficarotta
Agostino Ficarotta descendants in Detroit.
Salvatore Di Trapani son of mother's maiden name Geraci
If you are looking for relatives in these cities, there is an alternative than writing to the municipality. There are two
women in Partinico who will trace your ancestors line for a small fee. There is a fee anyway if you write the office by
yourself. These are the towns that they can do research in up till 1820:
San Giuseppe Jato
