This branch of the Lukens family moved to Fairfax County, VA after the Civil War. They settled a small farm near Mt. Vernon. Courtland Lukens was born in Pennsylvania, and moved to Fairfax by at least 1866, when Charles Teas Lukens was born. His son Charles Teas Lukens moved to Roanoke, in the 1880s, started a dairy operation named Eagle Dairies, it later became Clover Creamery. My Grandfather, William Courtland Lukens, became VP of Clover, after graduating Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1922. My father, Charles Edward Lukens graduated from VPI in 1956, worked for a few years at Clover Creamery, then parted the company on 1961 after it was sold to Beatrice Foods. I will add to this as time and my learning permit.
