Oscar Soules (son of William Jr. Soules and Almira Baker) was born September 10, 1837 in Vigo Co., IN, and died April 20, 1906 in Lincoln Co., NE.He married (1) Christine Ann Beimer on October 30, 1865 in Vigo Co, Indiana.He married (2) Ellen Jane Tosser on January 12, 1869 in Vigo Co, Indiana, daughter of David Tosser and Elmira Jane.

Oscar and Ellen's marriage license was issued on the 12th day of January, 1869 and filed on the 2nd day of March 1869.

Oscar and Ellen are buried in Lincoln Co. Nebraska at the Peckham cemetery.He was a trustee and helped organize the Peckham cemetery.
He is listed in the 1890 farmers list in the Nebraska Gazette.His post office is listed as Peckham.

In the 1850 census he is listed as the son of William and Almira Soules and that he is 12 years of age.[SOULES1.FTW]
Oscar was 68 years, 7 months, 10 days old when he passed away.
Oscar and Ellen were natives of Indiana, who resided for a time in Kansas and in 1880 came to Lincoln County, Nebraska.Here Oscar homesteaded, which he proved up, and the rest of his life he farmed and raised stock.He was a republican.During the Civil war he enlisted in the First Indiana Cavalry, a regiment with which he served for three years, and for many years was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic. He and Ellen were the parents of eight children:Allie, wife of Elmer Peckham, who is engaged in farming in Scottsbluff county, NE, Charles O. husband of Mary Middleton, Minnie, the wife of Edwin Richards, of California; Mamie, wife of John Johnson of Watertown, South Dakota, Fedilia, deceased; Zellah, the wife of Robert Holcombe, located near Jelm, Wyoming;Roy, a resident of North Platte; and Warren of San Francisco.Of these children two sons Roy and Warrren were in the United States service during the great World War.

In probate records he left his estate to his beloved wife Ellen Soules.He wrote his will on April 10, 1906, just 10 days before dying.Allie and Elmer Peckham were witnesses to the will.Charles was the administrator.In this probate Ellen asks for a certified copy of Oscar's will so she can apply for a pension for the widow of a civil war veteran.

Ellen would not live long after Oscar, and in her probate she recieved an inheritance from Oscar's brother Warren. Charles requests a copy of the probate to file for an inheritance from Indiana as Oscar's brother Warren died without a will and all the relatives received a share of his estate.This is the monies that is divided amoung the children.

HEIR TO SOULE ESTATE DIES IN NEBRASKA
Oscar Soules, Poor, Died When in Sight of Fortune-Was Next Brother to Wealthy Farmer
Word has been received here that Oscar Soules, brother of the late Warren Soules, did at his home near Omaha, Neb., last Thursday and was buried Saturday.Oscar Soules was 79 years of age, 3 years younger than his brother, who died at his farm east of this city on the Thursday preceding.Mr Oscar Soules was a legal heir to a share of the Warren Soules estate, and is said to have been a very poor man.He has several children, who will of course, come in for the share due the father.The name of Oscar Soules is named in the papers of the contest for the administratorship, and also in the notice of application for receiver for the estate filed Monday morning.

The Oscar that became one of the administrators was Lemuel's son, Lemuel was a brother to Oscar and Warren.
Oscar was married previously to Annie Beimer for a short time, she died young and is buried in Terre Haute.On their marriage certificate it shows they were married by a William Graham, Pastor of Asbury Chapel in Terre Haute, Indiana.Source is Marriage Records, Vigo County, Book 3, pg. 415.
