The family can be traced through the surnames of Harrington, White, Tillinghast, Shippee and Jeffcoat from England, Hogan and Golden from Ireland, Shadinger from Germany, and Wismer and Oberholtzer from Switzerland. Great, great grandmother Malinda Wilson connects the family to the traditions of Richard Warren of the Mayflower and the noble houses of England and Europe. Some of these families have been here in America since the first settlement and bind the family to the first Indian wars, the American Revolution, the War of 1812, and the American Civil War. These were the pioneers, crossing the Ohio Valley in covered wagons to settle the plains of Kansas. The father’s side the family becomes part of the great Germanic wave of migration to New York in the 1800’s. These bloodlines include the Burge, Ahner, Mitthauer, Kaiser, and Rieth families. Also included in this genealogy are the Danish bloodlines of Lyndrup and Fagerlin. |
