| My sister and I have been researching our family tree for many years now. Unfortunately we did not put enough effort into the research in the beginning therefore much information was lost to us. Many of the older family members and older folks living in the areas where the research was being done have passed away by now and the wealth of information that was stored in those fascinating minds have vanished forever. All we can hope for now is to trudge through a myriad of records and heretofore published documents in hopes of finding bits and pieces of information that may allow us to fill in that puzzle we call our family tree. We have been lucky enough to have had most of the work done already on the Markham line. Work that was stored in the volumes of genealogies stored in the LDS library. So we do have a direct line back to our first American ancestor Deacon Daniel Markham. I have found numerous people who seem to be satisfied stopping at that point in their research. I however have always wondered why these people are not interested in knowing about the other folks who were just as important a factor in their being. I was not only my fathers son but also my mothers son. Therefore our research continues on the other lines trying to break trough the many dead ends ahead. Periodically we break down a barrier to move back one more generation. The work is tedious. It is sometimes frustrating. But it is always worth the effort.
