"Margaret Senne 92 Dies Here. Was Moose "Mother of Year' for1963
Mrs. Margaret E. Senne, Kalamazoo Moose Lodge "Mother of the year" for 1963, died at Borgess Hospital Tuesday night following a brief illness. She was 92. Mrs. Senne, a World War II Gold Star Mother, resided at 5752 E. Cork. She was one of the first Kalamazoo women to join the Woman's Relief Corps, and was one of its organizers in this community. At the time of her death she was a member of the Luzon-Argonne Auxilliary, the Daughters of the Union Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxilliary, the Mothers of World War II, the Blue Star Mothers, the American Legion Auxilliary, the Kalamazoo County United Veterans Council and the First Assembly of God Church. Her husband Charles P. Senne, died in 1937 and her youngest son, Harry W. was killed action in the Pacific during World War II. She is survived by three sons, Gus, Frank and Howard, all of Kalamazoo; three daughters, Mrs. Walter Rickard and Mrs. Henry Slumkoski, of Kalamazoo and Mrs. John Seimstra, of Grand Rapids; a brother, James H. Strong, of Schoolcraft; 22 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and 38 great-great grandchildren, and several neices and nephews. Funeral Services are being arranged by the Joldersma and Klein Funeral Home."
