Notes for William Price Massey:
William Price Massey married Mary (Mollie) Edna Holmes. Price was the son of James Robert (Bob) and Lou Underwood Massey. Mollie was the daughter of Lloyd and Nancy Holmes.
Price worked with his father and uncle learning many trades: blacksmithing, cotton ginning, grist milling and sawmilling. Another useful trade was that of casket maker, which he constructed of poplar wood. Baby caskets were lined with white sateen; adult caskets were lined with black sateen. While operating his sawmill, he landed a substantial contract furnishing mine timbers for the mines located at Margaret, Acmar and Overton. He first set his mill up at Margaret, but when timber became scarce, he moved his mill to Overton in 1914 and his family to Eastlake. He would live at the mill during the week and go home to Eastlake on the weekends.
