|From 14th century France, 15th century England, 18th century N. Ireland and the Netherlands to California.|
MAVITY, MORTON, JONES, VEN METRE, DUBOIS, VANDERHOOF, HALL, WILLIAMS, GOULD, SABIN, POTTER, SARGENT, GIFFORD, AVERY, BREWSTER, RAYMOND, BOERHAVE, DENISON, COOPER, LATHAM, BRADLEY, BOUTELL and KENT.
Most of the information here is accurate and well documented. The Mavity's coming from Killaghaduagh township in Kinawley parish in Co. Cavan is pure speculation since there is no written record. The reason I believe this is where they are from is because it is the only place where the Mavity's/Morton's co-existed and there is a baptismal record with the Godparents being a Morton and a Mavity. That and the other records with the same spelling used today.

Just found in "The First List of Tithables of Pittsylvania Co. Virginia 1767 taken July 17, 1667 by Peter Copland, Gent."
Robert and William McVatta
In the Lunenburg Co. Virginia list of Tithables for 1749, list taken by William Caldwell:
A man named Radford Mavery listed as Overseer.(I don't know if he is related or what that really means)
This is the earliest I can find so far of the Mavity's in Virginia.
