The next record of William is his marriage to Elizabeth Agelia Terrier, February 13, 1866 in Bradshear, St. Mary Parish, LA.That this is the same William is established by the application for a widow's pension by Elizabeth Hanchett of Ramsey, Vermillion Parish, LA, 6 May 1891.She stated that she was the widow of William Hanchett who enlisted November 7, 1863 in Company D 1st Regiment Wisconsin Heavy Artillery at Milwaukee, Wisconsin.Further, she asserted that he died in Vermillion, November 19, 1883 and that he had previously married Juliet Dolson from whom he was divorced before their marriage.
Elizabeth's death certificate stated she died at Port Arthur, TX, May 3, 1936, age 90 y. 4 m. 3 d. and that her parents were Edward Lowry Terrier and Adeline Rouseau.Information given by her daughter, Juliet Hartman.William was a farmer.
