The Longacre Family Home PageUpdated November 2, 2003
|The Longacre family arrived in Chester County and Delaware County, Pennsylvania from Sweden in 1643 on the "Kalmer Nyckel". The most notable Longacre is James Barton Longacre, an engraver with the Philadelphia Mint. It was his design that was used on the Indian Head Penny. Some of the Longacre's moved to South Jersey (my heritage), while others moved to Frederick County, Va. and Johnson County, MO. I am trying to tie up some loose ends so I need your help. There is another Longacre family who also settled in Chester County, Pa.They were from Switzerland and their ancestors start with Daniel and Ulrich Longacre. My Swedish Longacre's are no way connected to Daniel and Ulrich Longacre.|
A new Patriot for the DAR - Andrew Longacre (b. 9 Jan 1755 in Philadelphia, Pa; d. 20 Jun 1825 in Philadelphia, Pa.).
