I've only recently begun researching the CHILCOTT family tree. My ancestors were mostly from the Colorado,Kansas area. The earliest record that I can find of a CHILCOTT that I'm related to in the Kansas area , is my Great-grandfather, Roy T. Chilcott, marrying LuStella Shotwell, in Mankato, Jewell Kansas in 1902. I've only found out that he was born in Jefferson,Iowa in 1876 to a Baker Chilcott, mother unk. I have alot of information on the SHOTWELL side of the family, so I don't think that will be to hard to trace.
I'm also working on my husbands side of the family. I've been able to interview some members of the family and they can recall that they are from the ounty COrk in Ireland, but couldn't remember the name of the ancestor, or the date when they came over. They eventually settled in Louisville, Kentucky. If I'm not mistaken, my husbands great-grandfather, MIchael James McDermott was on the city council in Louisville. However, there is room for error in this..
Hopefully, if the research goes well, I'll be able to verify the facts.
