I am researching the McKay family - my father Robert Travers McKay was born in Pilot Mound, Manitoba, Canada. My grandfather, Leslie Raymond McKay was born in Killarney, Manitoba and his father, William James McKay, homesteaded there, moving from, I believe, Wingham, Ontario. His wife, Williamina Cooper, emigrated from Aberdeenshire, Scotland in the early 1890's. William McKay's father, also a William McKay, I believe, was born in Scotland, but I have no knowledge of his birthplace or the date of his emigration to Canada. My grandmother, Viola Mae Travers, was born in Ormstown, Quebec, as I believe were her parents, James Travers and Margaret E. Gilmore, but I have no knowledge of previous generations.
In addition, I'm researching the McLennan and Cornock families. My mother, Mildred Jean McLennan, was born in Greenway, Manitoba. Her father, Donald C. McLennan, was born in Ripley, Ontario and her mother Mildred Sarah Elizabeth Cornock, was born in Glen Valley, British Columbia. To the best of my knowledge the McLennan's emigrated from Scotland sometime in the mid-1800's while the Cornock's came from England sometime later.
Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.
