I am researching the McKeon Family Tree, with particular reference to my father, Clifford Andrew McKeon, born about 1880 in Penang, Malaysia. He lived in Singapore, where in 1914 he joined the Straits Settlement Volunteer Force and served as an artillery man on the big guns there. He saw action in the German naval raid on the harbour, and the subsequent Sikh uprisings of 1915 and 1916. He came to England in about 1920, lived in Birmingham, and trained as a schoolteacher. He married my mother, Winifred Emily Shanks, in Croydon in 1928.
