|A HOME PAGE BY DON MCMILLEN|
Welcome to my Family Genealogy. I hope that these pages will
assist you in your genealogical pursuits and frankly I hope it will assist me too!So as not to waste you time, let me quickly get to the key surnames that you will find here, nationalities, and the "where" it happened. My direct ancestor surnames include the following:
MCMILLEN, HUBBELL, RYAN(RION), WHITE, O'CONNER, HURLBERT, STEWART, FINCH, RUMBALL, BURR, GAYLORD, WAKEMAN, GOODE, HULL, LANGE, WISSMUELLER, KUCK, KLENKE, SCHAITBERGER, WESERMAN, BILLMAN, JOST, GITTLER, RUESSBECK, KIRCHNER, BUB, PAUER, PFEIFFER.
A few comments about my Father's (MCMILLEN) side of the family. First of all please don't be scared off by the spelling of McMillen. Within my own family I have seen it spelled McMillan, McMillion, McMullen and McMillin. My Father always claimed that he was Scotch-Irish. Thus far I have not been able to trace my McMillens back to a date earlier than 1810. They were already in the United States at that time. I have McMillen ancestors who lived in New York, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Ohio, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, Illinois, and Michigan. My Father's mother was born a Hubbell. The Hubbell line is easily traced back to the early 1600s in the United States and before that in England.
Now a few comments about my Mother's (LANGE) side of the family. Among my ancestors I have only seen the Lange name spelled as Lange or Lang. It is a German name. My Lange ancestors immigrated to the United States from Prussia (Germany) in 1872 and took up residence in Saginaw, Michigan. My Mother's mother was born a Wissmueller in Frankentrost, Michigan. The Wissmueller ancestors arrived in the United States in 1847 and along withother German immigrants arriving at the same time established the community of Frankentrost, Michigan. Frankentrost is just a few miles from it's more famous neighbor Frankenmuth.
My interest in genealogy did not start until 1994. Before that time I guess I was too busy doing my thing.I grew up in Saginaw, Michigan graduating from Saginaw High School in 1946. I moved to New York City shortly after graduation. I stayed in the "Big Apple" for about 2 years then decided to get a college education. I attended the University of Alabama for 4 1/2 years getting a Bachelor of Music degree in 1953. I was called to active duty in the Army (as an ROTC 2Lt) almost immediately. I went on active duty for a 2 year period that turned out to be 23 years. I retired from the Army as a Major. I then worked as a newspaper photographer and freelance photographer for about 3 years before moving with family to Florida. I got back into music in Florida and presently play in numerous music groups in Southwest Florida. My former wife and I divorced in 1984. I have one grown daughter Susan who lives close by. Like me when I was younger, she has absolutely no interest in genealogy!
I regularly exchange genealogical info with some of my cousins but am always on the lookout for others from my genealogical past. IS IT POSSIBLE THAT WE ARE COUSINS???
