McPherson/Charlton of Northumberland Newcastle England

I am researching the McPherson and Charlton families, both of the Newcastle England region.I have gone back to John Charlton born 1880 who married Mary Marshall (no other info) but was daughter to Christopher Kit Marshall. They had a son called John William Charlton, who married Mary Ann Bell.
On the other side I am back to John McPherson born in Wallsend Newcastle who married Margaret English (no other info on either person).Both families come from Newcastle in England.
I know that Christopher Marshall had a pub called the Byker Arms ?
