Heindel S. Krebs
WESTMINSTER - Heindel Snyder "Pate" Krebs, 77, of Westminster died Thursday morning, Feb. 24, 1994, at his home after a brief illness.
Born Aug. 15, 1916, in Maple Grove, Md., he was the son of the late William and Erma (Snyder) Krebs. He was preceded in death by his first wife Hilda B. Krebs in 1970. He is survived by his second wife, Mary Hesson Krebs of Westminster.
He retired after 30 years of employment with S. H. Tevis and Son Oil Co. He was a World War II Army veteran, Company H, 29th Division. He was a graduate of the Westminster High School.
A chief judge for the city of Westminster election board, he was a member of the 29th Division Alumni Association, the Westminster Moose Lodge 1381, the Littlestown Eagles, the Old-timers Softball League and Grace Lutheran Church of Westminster.
He was a life member of the Westminster Fire Engine & Hose Co. No. 1 and had formerly served as marshall, assistant chief, treasurer of the County Fire Chiefs Association, 2nd and 1st vice president, president, and former engineer. He had been involved with the Westminster Fire Department for over 54 years.
Surviving also are seven children, Patricia Snowberger, Carol Childers, Donald Krebs, Ginger Ireland and Michael Krebs, all of Westminster; William Krebs of Arnold, Md.; Debra Shaulis of Zebulon, N.C.; three step-children, William Hesson III, Darlene Smith and Reese Starner, all of Westminster; one brother, Earl Krebs of Westminster; 13 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren and one step-great-granddaughter.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, with the Rev. David Helfrich officiating and the Rev. Reginald Rice assisting. Burial will be in the Westminster Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home. The Westminster Fire Department will conduct a memorial service 7:30 p.m. Sunday during visitation at the funeral home.
