Edwin Wimmer, a 3 year resident of Grand Jct passed away on Jan 4, 1998, he was 74.
Edwin was born November 12 1923 in Los Angeles, California to Charles Edwin and Erma May Snyder Wimmer.
Edwin was a Transmission Systems Operator for the Southern California Edison, managing the grid that supplied power to Defense Installations. He later attended Law school and was a member of the California Bar. He retired in 1984.
After retirement he moved to be near his family in Crescent Junction, Utah. After his mothers;s death he and his wife moved to Grand Juncion, where he has since made his home.
Edwin was a member of the Crossroads United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the California Bar Association, Elks Lodge in California and the Alzheimer Association in Grand Junction and while living in Grand Junction, he participated in their fund raising walks until his health this last year would no longer allow his participation.
Edwin served in the Marines during WW 11 in the Pacific Islands, he was in the Marines for 8 years. He was a decorated vetern of the Korean Conflict.
Edwin enjoyed his men's church group, SPAM at Crossroads Methodist. He very much enjoyed gardening , spending time in the mountains and the desert.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Wimmer of Grand Juction; three daughters, Sheri Lynn Williams of Valencia, California, Gayle Ann Pullian of Saugas, California and Lori Mae Sipson of Grand Junction; a brother Duane Wimmer of Moab, Utah; 2 sisters, Bette Lange of Crescent Junction, Utah and Bobbe Kidrick of Salt Lake City, Ut; and 11 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Pat Wimmer. American Cremation Associates of Grand Junction is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Alzheimers Asssociation.
His ashes were taken to Crescent and scattered near his brother's urn, atop the hill above his previous home.
"Bud", as he was always known by his family was slightly over 6' tall, blue eyes and dark hair when he was younger. He loved the out of doors, much like all of the other members of his family, and had a particular bent toward the "cowboy" way of life.(Bobbe Wimmer Kidrick)
