|This is my maternal grandfather's line. The name Beck was adopted by my Swedish ancestors after immigration to the area north of St. James, Watonwan Co., Minnesota. The homesteads they settled there after 1869 became known as Nelson Township.|
The Sharpnack family is the name of my maternal grandmother. They are German in origin, from the area that for a time became Prussia. They immigrated in 1740, and settled in Germantown district in Philadelphia. Later the families migrated to Greene Co., Pennsylvania, and northwestern West Virginia. The other surnames in this Greene Co. branch are Hennen, Thrash, Berdine, Fox, Walters, Harris, and Anderson.
More recent links to the Sharpnack line in California are the Nelson family from Denmark. The Nielsens and Jensens immigrated from Denmark, to San Francisco in 1877. They settled on the lower Sacramento Delta, at Isleton, where they changed their names to Nelson and Johnson. Later they moved to Santa Rosa in Sonoma Co., California.
