I think that I can provide information on your wife's Gou l family.I have a Lewellyn Goul (b. 1826 d. 1910) who mar ried Evelyn Goul (yes the same name).Evelyn was one of ei ght children of John and Martha Goul.John's father was Ad am Goul.I have visited the gravesite of Adam andElizabe th (Lutz) Goul in Treacles Creek Cemetery, Ohio
Adam was born near Frankfort, Germany in 1761.According t o family legend, Adam started to America in 1773 with his f ather,Frederick, his mother, and his sister.Only Adam s urvived the trip landing in Philadelphia where he was tempo rarily cared for and "bound out" apprenticing as a shoemake r. Eventually, Adam marriedElizabeth Lutz who was born i n Philadelphia in 1763.The Gouls took the Philadelphia Wa gon Road, a major migration trail, south and settled in Roc kingham County, Virginia.Adam andElizabeth Goul moved f rom Virginia to Champaign County, in central Ohio in 1817 , settling in Goshen Township.
Several of their married children also moved to Ohio.Howe ver, their son John married Martha McManaway and moved furt her west to Indiana where they raised a family. The childr en were Martha Jane (my gg-grandmother -- and her picture i s hanging in my family room), Evelyn, Mary Ann, Malissa, Ru th, William J., and John Wesley.I believe they moved bac k to Champaign County, Ohio because that is where Martha Ja ne married Josiah Harbert in 1850.
We moved a couple of years ago and my genealogy records ar e stored in a closet. If you send your address to me, I wi ll search through them and send you some copies of storie s on this family, family group sheets, and some other resea rchers' addresses.
I do not know the connection of Llewellyn Goul to the famil y yet.Adam and Elizabeth had eight children (six were son s) and I believe that Adam had some cousins in America acco rding to another researcher.
