Notes for Samuel Hicks:
Born about 1798 in Valle Crucis,Watauga Co, NC Note: From Census Records it appears that Sammy was born as early as 1798 or as late as 1800.Little Sammy was born at Valle Crucis and there is little record of him in his youth. Descendants of close relatives, the Council Harmon family described him as musically talented and a natural entertainer. He liked to tell ghost stories and Jack tales. He played the banjo and possibly other instruments, including the dulcimer. He loved dances, social occasions and celebrations. He was friendly and outgoing. There is no record of what he looked like.
I'm looking at the book to see what they knew. page 187 it says Andrew & Levi, sons of Little Sammy, remained in area of Watauga & Avery Co. Levi's family moved into Mitchell, Madison & Haywood Counties around 1874 & lived Grandfather Community
(I thought that is in Watauga County at Foscoe) Levi & Cynthia lived there in 1880, the year he went south and west [to] Madison Co.
