NOTICE:Several years ago I sent information to a second cousin, Kevin McGriff of Virginia.I accidently sent him my entire file and WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE OR PERMISSION, he posted my file on One World Tree.I have repeatedly asked him to remove my file from One World Tree and he has not. There are errors in my file and I was not ready to publish it on the internet. You can tell my file from the Index.Look under "J" and if you fine "Jepperson" and undeer "M" and if you find "McGriff (11)" you will know that it is the stolen file. Please contact me by email (address above) before you import any information from that file.I will gladly share my sources with legitimate researchers. Since I posted the above, I have had emails from two other persons to whom Kevin McGriff did the same thing. He takes years of work of others and publishes it as his own.BEWARE KEVIN MCGRIFF!
Robert Zane, the Immigrant Ancestor, was baptized March 29, 1642 in the Church of St. John the Baptist, in Yarcombe, Devonshire, England. He moved, with his parents, to Dublin, Ireland about 1656 (about age 14) to escape Quaker persecutions in England. He married his first wife, Margaret Hammond, in Dublin and had three children by her, only one of whom survived, Nathaniel.Robert sailed for America, probably as the advance guard for the Irish Tenth and Fenwick's Colony (of Salem, West Jersey) about 1673.This was probably the first of three trips between England and America.
In America, he married his second wife, Alis Alday, who may or may not have been Indian. He had no known children by her.His third wife was Elizabeth Willis of Long Island, New York.Robert had six more children by her, one of which was born after his death.
It is unknown what became of Margaret Hammond Zane.No record of her death has been found in Dublin Quaker Records. It is assumed (not proven) that she may have died at sea enroute to America or shortly after their arrival.
If you have provided information to me, and are not credited with the info you provided, please contact me at my email address.I started this nearly 30 years ago and did not necessarily get all documentation down.I DO want to give credit where due.

I have removed the full data of the Descendants of Robert Zane as too many people were importing all of my work into their files with no credit for the many years work I have done.I will gladly share information on anyone's direct line, or answer limited questions about collateral lines, but will not post the entire file again. Please understand and bear with me.Contact me with your line and I will gladly share any and all information I may have on that line including wills, cemetery records, notes, etc.
If you have Zane in your background, and are NOT of Chinese descent, you are very probably of this family. Please send me your line so that you and your line may be added.
I AM MOST CERTAINLY INTERESTED IN ADDING NEW LINES TO THIS WORK.IF YOU ARE A ZANE DESCENDANT, PLEASE SEND ME YOUR LINE.YOU WILL BE CREDITED AND INFORMATION ON LIVING PERSONS WILL BE SUPPRESSED
