We are the fifth and sixth generation descendants of John S. Niccolls, b:1814, d: 1863 as best we have been able to track.
His first wife was Sarah (b: 1821) who bore a son, James Oliver,
b:1839, d:1926.James married Araminda and had: Harry, Lida, Sara (Sadie), Elmer, Anna, Minnie and Bell. His second wife, Nancy Lucinda Porch (b.abt.: 1834, d. abt. 1874) gave him: George, William, and Charles Overly. I believe either George or William was referred to as "Hubb" as I recall my grandmother and aunt often referring to "Uncle Hubbs".
The family, as I have been able to track it, was mainly located in Westmoreland Co., PA and possibly Fayette Co., PAand there I have lost track.
James Oliver Nichols was believed to be a carpenter and his son, Charles Overly was a railroad engineer.
At one time my aunts, Ruth Lowe Nichols and Nancy Lucinda Nichols told me that there was a genealogy of the Nichols/Niccolls family done by family living in California and I would be interested in hearing from anyone with any knowlege of this andgiving you an update of the descendents of Charles Overly Nichols for the records.
