The information provided herin is a compulation of years of personnal and colaborative effort with my cousin Nancy Louise 'NIKODEM' BALLARD and others, to identify and track mostly documented, but in some cases logically evaluated and some derived from other works or circumstances found through research. I've been collecting data and researching several branches of my family tree, but I have been focusing on the later generation Ancestors of the following lines:
George Burkhart NIKODEM b:10/1844, Taus City (Domazlice), Bohemia, d:11/1905 Chicago, IL, and his wife Mary PHILBIN b:10/10/1852, Chicago, IL, d:11/23/1917, Bisbee, AZ. and their son George Edward NIKODEM b:05 Jun 1877, Chicago, IL, d:09 Apr 1946 Los Angeles, CA, and his wife Elizabeth Elen FALLOWS b:14 Oct 1882, Middleton, England, d:15 May 1968, Inglewood, CA.
Joseph FALLOWS b:5/13/1855, Middleton, England, d:11/5/1922, New York, and his wife Mary Alice CHEETHAM, b:9/30/1857, Middleton, England, d: 5/28/1947, Pacific Palisades, CA.
William Houston MURPHREE, b:3/5/1853, Cullman, AL, d:10/14/1901, Cullman, AL, and his wife Missouri Ann JONES, b:10/13/1862, d:6/24/1939, Cullman, AL.
Theadore Daniel SULLIVAN, b:4/10/1837, St. Louis, MO, d:4/17/1908, Caldwell, TX, and his wife Cornelia M. BROADDUS, b:1/3/1842, Caroline Co., VA, d:10/25/1919, Caldwell, TX.
Thomas WILLIAMS, son of William WILLIAMS and Ann RICHEY, b:12/15/1847, Cardiff, Wales, d:1/29/1901, Caldwell, TX, and his wife Lucy Jane KENNEDY, b:1859, Milam Co., TX, d:1884, Raleigh, NC, her father Prior KENNEDY, b:1807, Sumner Co. One of my branches, through Judge Andrew Sydney BROADDUS, 1810/1891, leads directly to Edward BROADDUS through both of his wives, and I am looking for more definitive information on their ancestry. However, based on my research, at the time of Edward's immigration to Gwynn's Island, VA in abt the 1690s; he being a Welchman from South Wales; the Island was then owned by three families, the GWYNN's,originally from North Wales, owned half the island and the KEEBLES and READES owned the rest, and the resedents included African-American as well as several white indentured servents. It is probable then that Edward BROADDUS, a contraction of BROADHURST of Anglo-Saxon origin at the time of his immigration, was an indentured servant, and on, or during the time of fulfilling his contract, he met and married Dollwyddolan GWYNN. Dollwyddolan was most likely born in VA on Gwynn's Island to John GWYNN and Margaret KEEBLE, property owners on the island, as at the time John appears to be the only male Gwynn there.
Edward BROADDUS, b:1672 South Wales, d:1749 Caroline Co., VA, and his wives Mary SHIPLEY (wife #2) and Dollwyddolan GWYNN (wife #1), b:1680 Gwynn's Island, VA, d:1715 Gwynn's Island, VA, Granddaughter of Hugh GWYNN, son of Owen GWYN of North Wales, b:abt 1610, Gloucester Co., Virginia, d:abt 1654, Gwynn's Island, VA.
I've also collected information on Ann REDD, wife of Thomas BROADDUS, Jr. grandson of Edward BROADDUS, b:abt 1730, King and Queen Co., VA, d:abt 1826, Caroline Co., VA. Her father was Thomas REDD b:abt 1715, King and Queen Co., VA, d:abt 1745, King and Queen Co. VA, and his father Thomas REDD b:abt 1675, and mother Sarah FARGUSON. Ann's mother was Elizabeth BARBEE, and her grandfather John BARBEE, and grandmother Ann M MILLER.
My grandmother's, Willie Parker 'SULLIVAN' MURPHREE and Elizabeth Ellen 'FALLOWS' NIKODEM, have both been an inspiration to me to continue with their desire to identify the roots of our families. The data collected includes research through clues provided by their family records, that consisted of writing's and personal discussions (including family lore and ledgend), bibles, books with family history data.
Any additional information would be greatly appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.
