The Nunninks of EedeUpdated April 2, 2009
As a child growing up I would travel around the United States, every Summer with my family, and in every town we would stay we would check the phone book for anyone with last name Nunnink.Never found anyone. In 1991 I traveled with my parents to Europe and visited Holland. We knew very little about our family history all we had were stories from my father's Uncle Adolph who said that the family came from Edde and were forced to leave Holland because they were smugglers. There is no Edde but we found a town called Eede in the south and decided to visit it. Standing on the corner asking people if they had ever heard of the name Nunnink lead us to the local town historian who had been looking for imformation about my family after they had emmigrated from Holland. It was the start of a great adventure and we found out most of the family history.Still not sure about the smuggling stories, however.Using the internet I have added more detail and made contact with Nunninks all over the world. In the future I hope to add more to this site and tell the full story of our family.
